As I mentioned in my previous “pastor’s notes,” the That Man Is You! (TMIY!) men’s ministry has been holding a WebEx meeting every night since the pandemic started to pray the Rosary. Currently it’s over 150 days. Prior to the Rosary the men will offer intentions for the Rosary with the obvious one for the end of the coronavirus. Other intentions the men will include are for our church, country and family. There is an urgency in their voices as they express these intentions.
It is listening to these intentions night after night and the urgency in the men’s voices that is the inspiration to hold a three day in car parking lot “Revival – God, Country, Family”. The Revival will be held on September 11 -13, 2020 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. We are living in incredibly challenging times to say the least. There is so much pain, confusion, fear and suffering in our world. While many look to man, government and institutions to solve our problems, as Catholic Christians, we know the only answer to these problems is JESUS! The challenges in our church, country and families gives rise for a need for a Revival! We need Jesus!
The “Revival” invites everyone to come together to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to renew our church, country and families. We read in Sacred Scripture: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14. I am delighted to announce that Bishop David O’Connell will open the “Revival” celebrating Holy Mass on September 11th . At this Mass we will remember our parishioners and Middletown residents, who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001.
The Revival will also include teachings, personal testimonies of the Saving Power of Jesus Christ, Eucharistic Adoration, Healing Service, Praise and Worship, with lots of prayer and intercession for the Lord to heal our church, country and families.
I am asking all our parishioners not only to join us and actively pray for Revival in our church, country and families, but to be promoters of the Revival. Invite your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors – EVERYONE. We will be advertising the Revival on radio, social media, billboards on highway 35 & 36 and every other avenue that will reach people. Again, there is a great urgency and need for “Revival” in our church, country and families. Be part of the Revival!
You can get a small taste of the “Revival” on Saturday, August 29th as we gather in the parking lot for a “Festival of Praise” from 7pm to 9pm. The evening will include teaching, testimony and Eucharistic Adoration. Last month many gathered around 5:30pm to a tailgate dinner. It was a very anointed and blessed night. I’m sure this month will be the same. Have a blessed week!
