Congratulations to the Saint Mary School STREAM Team for being selected as a finalist for acceptance into the prestigious University of Notre Dame Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows. The Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows is a unique, competitive, and formative program focused on increasing student interest and learning in STEM disciplines through the support and growth of high-quality STEM teachers.
The Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows is a fully-funded program with an annual stipend that seeks to foster continuous improvement in STEM teaching and learning. Sponsored by the Notre Dame Center for STEM Education, the program includes three, two-week summer institutes over three summers on campus at the University of Notre Dame and two academic years of instructional coaching and the facilitation of a school wide STEM impact plan.
If accepted into the program, the Saint Mary School STREAM Team and students will realize the following benefits:
1. Longitudinal professional growth in STEM teaching, learning, assessment, and leadership
2. A national community of practitioners with a strong cohort model
3. Content-specific instructional coaching over two school years
4. Approximately 100 hours of PD each year that can be used for
re-certification
5. Travel, lodging, and meal expenses paid for Summer Institutes
and RISE Summits
6. $4,500 stipend across the duration of the program
-$2,000 annually for years 1 & 2; $500 for summer 3/on-going
data collection
With the introduction of Project Lead the Way in our middle school beginning in September 2021, we believe SMS will be able to better prepare its students for the jobs of the future!
