This week’s Principal’s Message has to do with just how good God is and that we CANNOT, no MUST NOT, forget that all things are possible with Him! If you told me that we would be able to put all new floor tile and LED lighting in seven Holy Family Wing classrooms over the Christmas break, I’d have told you that “you’re nuts”. In fact, that is what I did think when Hank Pekarsky told me to schedule the work! As much as I was desiring to have this work done, I thought there was no chance of accomplishing such a monumental task in so short a time period given there were two holidays during the break.
Well, with the assistance of some high school-age young men, our typical summer crew of college students, and some overtime by our regular maintenance crew, we were able to have all seven classrooms prepped for the installation of the tile and lighting. The rest as they say, “is history”. Both the floor crew and lighting team worked independently and accomplished both tasks in record time, giving our school team two days to set the classrooms back up with furniture and other classroom materials. When the kindergarten through 2nd grade students returned from their Christmas break, they were so excited to see their “new” classrooms. They were brighter (LED lighting and light-colored tile) and seemed bigger due to the brightness. The old carpet squares were removed, hopefully taking many years of bacteria and germs with them.
I tell this story because I cannot aptly tell you just how exhilarating it is to see continual improvement in our school building and facilities. The students’ reactions were priceless. Visitors to our school often comment on the many upgrades we’ve made, complimenting on how good our 60+ year-old building looks. Staff members who’ve been here for some time state that the improvements really add a “freshness” to the school, not seen in other, younger school buildings. I can only attribute this success to the continued support of our school families, parishioners, and trusted vendors who never fail to deliver when asked to accomplish a task that might seem “nuts” at the beginning. As I stated in the opening, even at the age of 58, God continues to amaze me with what we can accomplish through Him when we’re faithful and trusting. If you’d like to help us continue our school/facility improvements, please read the Development Committee’s ad in this bulletin. Thank you, once again, for your support for our beloved school!
Please check our website, Facebook page and the Church bulletin for updates and upcoming events that you can enjoy with us. Please continue to pray for our school, its staff, students and families, and our clergy as we strive to provide an education that is unapologetically Catholic, family centered, caring to others and respectful to all.
God Bless,
Craig Palmer
